In addition to general commercial work, several of the projects we are
(and were) involved with include
fraud, corruption and forensic investigations. Some of the better known
local matters that we’ve worked on include that of Macmed,
Saambou Bank and the Krion Pyramid Scheme. On
occasion we’ve also traveled internationally – among the
more notable of these occasions were
our projects in Benin, West Africa, on an investigation requested by
the USA Department of Justice which
included delegations from Hogan Hartson LLP (USA), Deloitte SA,
USA and the UK. Other similar projects
include
that done in the UK with KPMG on behalf of the Scorpions in
a
joint investigation with the UK’s National Crime
Squad, while we've also had the privilege to work in the Isle of
Man, Dubai, Swaziland, Kenia, Lesotho, Zambia, India, and the Republic of Congo on various other matters.

Some of our successfully completed and on-going matters include that of
The State v Schabir Shaik, The Rail Commuter Action Group v Metrorail,
the failed take-over bid by Harmony of Goldfields (in close
association with Hogan Hartson LLP (USA)) and the Tollgate, Leisurenet
and other matters. We've also
scanned legal matters of historical importance for WITS including that
of the famous Rivonia Trial record. Other interesting projects included
the scanning and conversion of 20 years' worth of Supreme Court of
Appeal judgments in Bloemfontein and all of the Lesotho High and Appeal
Court judgments as done in Maseru, both of which was done on behalf of
SAFLII (the Southern African Legal Information Institute) - and all of
which is
now freely available on SAFLII's website.

Law Enforcement
Both local and international projects feature among the highly
sensitive work done for the National
Prosecuting Authority’s now defunct Directorate of Special
Operations (the
Scorpions) and the Special Investigating Unit. Aspects of these
projects include fraud, corruption and money
laundering, and in some cases involved the scanning and processing of
millions of pages of evidence
which were scanned on-site and all over South Africa and abroad.
